Skylands Skating Acedemy in-house skating professionals are available for private lessons. To book private lessons, review our coach bios and then contact the Skating Director, Kim Murphy at (973) 697-1600 [Ext. 118] or email skatingdirector@skylandsiceworldnj.com.

Coaching fees range from $30-45 per ½ hour lesson and are paid directly to the coach. For new lessons, please leave 48-72 hours for arrangements to be made. In addition to the coaching fees, skaters must pay an ice utilization fee on either a freestyle session ($22 or discount punch card) or public session fee.

Skaters must sign-in at front desk and ice fees must be paid before the session on which the lesson is occurring. Skaters will be given a purple colored wristband as proof of payment which coaches will ensure skaters are wearing.

Synchronized skating is a team sport in which 8-20 skaters perform a program together. It uses the same judging system as singles, pairs and dance and is characterized by teamwork, speed, intricate formations and challenging step sequences. As with the other disciplines, all teams perform a free skate with required well-balanced program elements. In addition, teams at the junior and senior level perform a short program consisting of required elements.
