Basic Skills is the Learn to Skate program presented by the USFS (United States Figure Skating). Basic Skills offers a curriculum that is fun, challenging and rewarding for all ages and abilities. There are many options as a skater moves through the beginning level badges including the bridge program to testing and competitive figure skating. Basic Skills is also considered as the feeder program for USA Hockey and US Speedskating. Valid from July 1st through June 30th, the annual USFSA membership fee ($15) includes sport accident insurance for the participant, progress record book, badges and other program materials. Learn to Skate - PreSchool
This program is a perfect starting point for preschool-aged children as an entry point to the learn to skate program. Recommended ages: 3-6 years. Smaller class size gives the extra attention to the youngest skaters as they learn the basics of skating. Class fee includes 30 minute lesson and 1/2 free skate after class.
Learn to Skate - Parent and Tot
This program is a perfect starting point for preschool-aged children AND their caregivers who are available during the weekday daytime hours and would like to learn to skate together! Smaller class size and the comfort of a caregiver on the ice gives added attention to the youngest skaters as they learn the basics of skating. Class fee includes 30 minute lesson and free admission to the remainder of the public session that follows class.
Learn to Skate - Special Needs
This program is tailored to children with special physical or mental needs. The class is structured to allow the kids to have fun and enjoy the feel of being on the ice. Class fee include a 30 minute lesson. Caretakers are allowed on the ice with the child as needed.
