BASIC SKILLS LEARN TO SKATE:
Basic Skills is the Learn to Skate program presented by the USFS (United States Figure Skating). Basic Skills offers a curriculum that is fun, challenging and rewarding for all ages and abilities. There are many options as a skater moves through the beginning level badges including the bridge program to testing and competitive figure skating. Basic Skills is also considered as the feeder program for USA Hockey and US Speedskating. Valid from July 1st through June 30th, the annual USFSA membership fee ($7.50 plus materials) includes sport accident insurance for the participant, progress record book, badges and other program materials. Badge Levels and Types: Snowplow Sam 1-3, Basic 1-8, Hockey 1-4, Adult 1-4, Free Skate 1-6, Synchronized Skating 1-4, Dance 1-6, Pairs 1-6, Artistry in Motion 1-4, Speed 1-6 and Special Olympics 1-12.
PARENT & TOT CLASS:
This program is a perfect starting point for preschool-aged children AND their caregivers who are available during the weekday daytime hours and would like to learn to skate together! Smaller class size and the comfort of a caregiver on the ice gives added attention to the youngest skaters as they learn the basics of skating. Class fee includes 25 minute lesson and free admission to the remainder of the public session that follows class.
PRESCHOOL LEARN TO SKATE:
This program is a perfect starting point for preschool-aged children as an entry point to the learn to skate program. Recommended ages: 3-6 years. Smaller class size gives the extra attention to the youngest skaters as they learn the basics of skating. Class fee includes 25 minute lesson and 1/2 free skate after class.
HOMESCHOOL LEARN TO SKATE:
This program is a great opportunity for children and young adults who are homeschooled. Take advantage of a daytime class and a lower price! All skill levels of the Basic Skills Program are offered. Class fee includes 25 minute lesson and free admission to the remainder of the public session that follows class.
FREESTYLE SESSIONS:
Freestyle sessions are for test and competitive skaters, and students in private lessons.

PRIVATE LESSONS:
Skylands Skating Acedemy in-house skating professionals are available for private lessons. To book private lessons, review our coach bios and then contact the Skating Director, Janelle Craft at SkatingDirector@SkylandsIceWorldNJ.com or call 973.697.1600 x.118. Coaching fees range from $30-45 per ½ hour lesson and are paid directly to the coach. For new lessons, please leave 48-72 hours for arrangements to be made. In addition to the coaching fees, skaters must pay an ice utilization fee on either a freestyle session ($13, $15 or discount punch card) or public session fee. Skaters must sign-in at front desk and ice fees must be paid before the session on which the lesson is occurring. Skaters will be given a purple colored wristband as proof of payment which coaches will ensure skaters are wearing.
